Safeswim launches real-time beach safety updates, adding new beach bus routes in Whangārei.

Safeswim, a joint initiative by Auckland and Northland councils and Surf Life Saving New Zealand, offers real-time water quality and safety updates for Northland's beaches via a website and app. Beach buses in Whangārei now include two new routes to Waipū Cove and Matapouri, running Saturdays at 9:30am. The Northland Regional Council also offers Tū i te ora Scholarships, with applications due by February 13th. Council staff will be available at summer events, including Waitangi Day, to provide information on water safety and environmental protection.
