Repsol's $800M project in Spain will convert waste into renewable methanol, aiming to cut CO2 and create jobs.
Repsol's Board has approved the Ecoplanta project in El Morell, Spain, which will use Enerkem's technology to convert 400,000 tons of non-recyclable waste into 240,000 tons of renewable methanol annually.
Scheduled to start in 2029, the $800 million project aims to reduce CO2 emissions and create over 340 jobs.
It will also contribute to the EU's emission reduction goals for maritime transport.
