Mongolia is hit by heavy snow, prompting the government to stockpile meat for the capital.

Snow covers 80% of Mongolia, with depths reaching up to 60 cm. Last winter, the country faced an extreme dzud, a disaster unique to Mongolia, where heavy snow and cold temperatures led to the deaths of millions of livestock, severely impacting herders and the rural economy. The government plans to stockpile 10,000 tonnes of meat to ensure a steady supply for Ulan Bator residents this spring.
