Massachusetts Governor Healey proposes raising taxes on meals, lodging, and car registrations to boost local revenue.

Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey has reintroduced a bill allowing local governments to raise taxes on meals, lodging, and motor vehicle registrations, aiming to provide more revenue without increasing property taxes. The bill could add up to 1% to meal taxes, 7% to lodging taxes, and a 5% surcharge on vehicle excise bills. Healey hopes this will generate up to $150 million for local services.
