Macau's casino revenue drops 5.6% in January, falling short of Chinese New Year expectations.

Macau's casino industry saw a 5.6% drop in gross gaming revenue (GGR) in January 2025, totaling MOP18.25 billion ($2.27 billion). Despite the Chinese New Year holiday partially falling in January, expectations for increased gaming revenue were not met. Industry experts remain optimistic about a 4% to 9% GGR increase for 2025, with the Macao government forecasting MOP240 billion ($29.7 billion) for the year. The Chinese New Year Golden Week, running January 28th to February 4th, saw an estimated 5 million border crossings.
