IIT Madras launches a cancer genome project to advance personalized cancer treatments in India.

IIT Madras launched the Bharat Cancer Genome Atlas (BCGA) to enhance cancer research and personalized treatment in India. The initiative, started in 2020, includes whole exome sequencing of 960 breast cancer samples from 480 patients across India. Available at bcga.iitm.ac.in, the database aims to identify cancer-specific biomarkers for early detection and develop tailored treatment strategies, potentially advancing personalized medicine in India.
