Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy stated that while the U.S. has the "safest skies in the world," the Federal Aviation Administration's systems are outdated and need updates. The country also faces a shortage of air traffic controllers. This comes after the FAA's pilot warning system, NOTAM, experienced an outage a week after a deadly crash in Washington, D.C., which killed 67 people.
