Canadian director Chris Nash won the top prize at France's Gerardmer International Fantastic Film Festival for his slasher film "In a Violent Nature," about a serial killer returning from the dead.
The festival, which focuses on fantasy, science fiction, and horror genres, also awarded the Jury Prize to "Rumors" by Canadian directors and "Exhuma" by South Korean director Jang Jae-Huyn.
"The Wailing" by Spanish director Pedro Martin Calero won the Critics' Prize, while Irish director Damian McCarthy's "Oddity" took the Audience Award.
France's Hakim Atoui's "Blood Ties" received the Best Short Film prize.
