Australian company Orica cuts carbon emissions by one million tonnes at its Kooragang Island site.

Australian company Orica has cut one million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions at its Kooragang Island site, equivalent to removing 600,000 cars from the road. This was achieved by using new technology on three nitric acid plants, supported by a $13.06 million investment from the New South Wales government and a $25 million contribution from Orica, financed by the federal government. Orica has also reduced global emissions by 43% since 2019 and is exploring renewable hydrogen to further decarbonize operations.
