Rare 1955 Mercedes race car sells for record €51.155m at auction in Stuttgart.
A rare 1955 Mercedes W196 R Streamliner raced by Formula 1 legends Juan Manuel Fangio and Stirling Moss sold for a record-breaking €51.155m at an auction in Stuttgart. One of only four complete examples, the car was previously owned by the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum. The auction proceeds will fund the Mercedes-Benz Museum's restoration and acquisitions, focusing on US exhibits.
