Long-lost opera "Morgiane" by New Orleans composer Edmond Dédé makes U.S. stage debut.

"Morgiane," Edmond Dédé's opera composed 138 years ago, is being staged for the first time in the U.S. The opera, which tells the story of a kidnapped woman and her mother's rescue attempts, was thought lost until its discovery at Harvard. Dédé, a Black American composer from New Orleans, moved to France where he became a prominent figure in the music scene. The opera is set to premiere in Washington, DC, Maryland, and New York.
