67 people died after a Black Hawk helicopter collided with an American Airlines flight near D.C.

A midair collision between a Black Hawk helicopter and an American Airlines flight near Washington D.C.'s Reagan National Airport resulted in 67 fatalities, including the helicopter crew and all aboard the aircraft. The helicopter, on a training mission, was piloted by Andrew Eaves, a Mississippi native, and Ryan O'Hara, from Georgia. Georgia ties also connect to Samuel Lilley, a co-pilot on the American Airlines flight. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the cause, which may involve miscommunication.
