An 18-year-old, James Doherty, was sentenced to two years and two months in detention for crashing his newly purchased, uninsured BMW into a bus stop in Bristol, severely injuring a four-year-old boy. Doherty fled the scene but later turned himself in. The boy suffered multiple injuries including collapsed lungs and spinal fractures. Doherty was also banned from driving for four years and one month.
