India launches ₹1 lakh crore fund to boost city development and infrastructure.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced a ₹1 lakh crore Urban Challenge Fund to support city growth hubs, creative redevelopment, and water and sanitation projects. The fund will finance up to 25% of eligible projects, with states needing to fund at least 50% through bonds, loans, or PPPs. An allocation of ₹10,000 crore is set for 2025-26. The budget also includes a National Geospatial Mission for modernizing land records and urban planning, and a revamped PM SVANidhi scheme for street vendors.
