Ooredoo and Alcatel build undersea cable linking seven Gulf nations, boosting data speed and security.

Ooredoo Group and Alcatel Submarine Networks are building a new undersea cable, named the Fibre in Gulf (FIG) project, connecting seven Gulf nations: Qatar, Oman, UAE, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Iraq. This project, set for completion by late 2027, aims to provide a faster, more secure data route between Europe and Asia with a capacity of up to 720Tbps. It will enhance digital services, cloud computing, and overall network reliability in the region.
