Oklahoma court upholds death sentence for Daniel Vasquez in 2018 murder of pregnant woman and her unborn child.

The Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals has denied Daniel Vasquez's request for an evidentiary hearing, upholding his death sentence for the 2018 murder of pregnant woman Shaliyah Toombs and her unborn child. Vasquez and his two accomplices, Joshua Finkbeiner and Stacy Harjo, were convicted after Vasquez confessed to the crime following a breakdown that left him walking to a truck stop where he was apprehended. The court agreed with the jury that Vasquez posed a significant threat to society.
