Nigeria orders retirement of senior police officers over 60 or with over 35 years of service.

The Nigerian Police Service Commission (PSC) has ordered the immediate retirement of senior police officers who have served more than 35 years or are over 60 years old. This decision follows controversy around Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, who turned 60. The PSC reversed a 2017 decision allowing officers to use their enlistment date for service calculation, citing rules mandating retirement at 35 years of service or age 60. Despite criticism, the PSC maintains Egbetokun's tenure is lawful.
