Lincoln has opened a new $11.5 million fire station, replacing a 1958 building. Station 8, located at 17th and Van Dorn streets, aims to reduce response times and improve firefighter health. The station features modern amenities like LED lighting, individual sleeping rooms, and a backup power generator. It houses 10 firefighters and four emergency vehicles. The facility was funded through certificates of participation.
