Ireland reports record domestic violence cases over Christmas, linking rise to violent pornography.

Over the Christmas week, Ireland saw a record 1,600 domestic violence reports, a 5% increase from 2024, and a typical week sees around 1,200 calls. Garda Commissioner Drew Harris linked the rise to more violent pornography and urged victims to seek help from police, friends, or solicitors. He also noted that societal awareness and better support systems could be contributing to more reports.
