British Columbia launches $5M program to help fruit growers adapt to extreme weather.

British Columbia is launching a $5 million climate resiliency program to assist tree fruit growers affected by extreme weather. The funding, following a devastating cold spell in January 2024, will help finance protective measures like heaters, wind machines, and shade protection for up to 80% of project costs, up to $100,000 per business. The program was developed with input from local grower associations.
