UK sees significant rise in young adults identifying as LGB, now at 10.4%, driven by increase in bisexual identification.

In the UK, 10.4% of young adults aged 16 to 24 now identify as lesbian, gay, or bisexual (LGB), up from 4.4% in 2018. This increase is largely due to more young people identifying as bisexual, rising from 2.8% to 7.5%. The overall LGB adult population also grew to 3.8% in 2023, from 2.2% in 2018. The Office for National Statistics attributes these changes to greater societal acceptance and legal recognition of same-sex relationships.
