In 2024, global air cargo demand surged 11.3%, exceeding 2021 records, due to high e-commerce demand and shipping restrictions. African carriers saw an 8.5% rise in cargo demand with a 13.6% capacity increase. Full-year yields were 39% higher than 2019 levels but 1.6% lower than 2023. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) forecasts growth to moderate to 5.8% in 2025.
