Residents in Chicago suburbs saw flaming objects in the sky, likely space debris, experts say.
Residents in western suburbs of Chicago reported seeing multiple objects streaking across the night sky on Tuesday night, leaving trails of flames. A video captured by a Yorkville resident showed the objects moving from west to east at around 9 pm. NBC Chicago's meteorologist Brant Miller suggested the objects were likely space debris burning up in Earth's atmosphere, not meteors. NORAD has not yet commented, and no debris hit the ground. Scientists warn that an increase in space debris due to more satellites could lead to more such events, potentially causing pollution.
