The Supreme Court of India pressures the government to act on acquittals in 1984 anti-Sikh riot cases.

The Supreme Court of India is pushing for renewed action on cases related to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, where trials often led to acquittals due to delays. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) was set up in 2018 to look into 186 cases, recommending appeals, but only a few were actually filed. The court is pressing the government to explain why more acquittals weren't challenged in higher courts, and the matter has been adjourned.
