Irish Justice Minister urges sedentary workers to join police, aiming to recruit 5,000 new officers.

Ireland's Justice Minister, Jim O'Callaghan, is urging people with sedentary jobs to consider a career in the police force, An Garda Síochána, ahead of a new recruitment campaign. The campaign, starting February 6th, aims to recruit at least 5,000 new officers over five years, supported by a €2.48 billion budget. O'Callaghan highlights the career's variety and public service commitment, noting that about a third of last year's applicants were aged 35 to 49.
