A grass fire in Ames, Iowa, spread to a house on Monday afternoon, causing one person to suffer burns and smoke inhalation. The fire started around 1:15 p.m. and spread due to warm, windy weather. The injured person was taken to Mary Greeley Medical Center. Firefighters extinguished the blaze but stayed at the scene for hours to prevent it from reigniting. The American Red Cross is assisting displaced family members.
