Ubisoft censors Japanese Assassin's Creed Shadows to avoid excessive violence, getting a "CERO Z" rating.
Ubisoft is censoring the Japanese version of its upcoming game, Assassin's Creed Shadows, due to excessive violence concerns from Japan's game rating board, CERO. The game will receive a "CERO Z" rating, restricting sales to those 18 and over. Changes include removing dismemberment scenes and altering some dialogue. This follows similar censorship in other game titles in Japan, like the Dead Space remake in 2023.
