Suresh Soni receives Padma Shri award for his trust aiding over 1,000 leprosy patients in Gujarat.

Suresh Soni, founder of Gujarat's Sahyog Leprosy Trust, has received the Padma Shri award for his decades-long service to over 1,000 leprosy patients. Established in 1978, the trust is the only center in India housing this many patients, funded solely by donations. Soni left his job as a professor to run the trust, providing care not only for leprosy patients but also for those with disabilities, mental illnesses, and HIV/AIDS.
