A study by Nutrition Warehouse New Zealand found that Taranaki and Ōpunake are the top regions for producing record-breaking athletes in New Zealand, with Taranaki having 4.56 records per 100,000 people and Ōpunake having 1.34 records per 1,000. The study aims to inspire young athletes, highlighting the success of record-breakers like Zoe Hobbs. Other top towns include Ranfurly, Clyde, and Tākaka. Despite having the most records, Auckland ranks lower in per capita success.
