The Pomonal community honored its volunteer firefighters on January 27 for their bravery during two bushfires in 2024. The Country Fire Authority's Chief Officer, Jason Heffernan, presented the Special Recognition Award to the Pomonal Fire Brigade and Chief Officer's Commendation to David Croad and Matt Venn.
