Gujarat farmers adopt over 7,700 solar pumps, boosting irrigation and cutting costs.

Over 7,700 farmers in Gujarat have adopted solar pumps under the PM-KUSUM scheme, launched in 2019, to enhance irrigation and promote solar energy use. The state government has provided subsidies exceeding Rs 218 crore, covering about 70% of the cost. Farmers report increased crop yields, reduced electricity costs, and minimal maintenance.
