France approves €1 billion aid for New Caledonia after unrest; Macron plans Asia-Pacific troop deployment.

The French Senate has approved a €1 billion credit line for New Caledonia to aid in economic and social recovery following recent unrest. Initially set at €500 million in loans, the bill will next be reviewed by the National Assembly in February. Meanwhile, President Emmanuel Macron will speak at Singapore's defense summit and plans to deploy significant forces to the Asia-Pacific region later this year.
