UK doctors warn stress is often misdiagnosed as mental illness, fueling antidepressant overuse.

The survey of 1,001 doctors also reveals that 83% worry about the over-prescription of antidepressants when non-drug treatments might be better. The report warns that this trend could lead to a surge in public healthcare costs unless attitudes toward mental health diagnoses change.
