Study finds higher education links to faster cognitive decline post-dementia diagnosis.

A study in the British Medical Journal links higher education levels to faster cognitive decline after a dementia diagnosis. Researchers from Erasmus University Medical Centre found that while education builds cognitive reserve, leading to better resistance to brain injury, once diagnosed, these individuals often show faster disease progression due to already being at an advanced stage of dementia. The study analyzed 261 studies, including 36 on educational attainment.
