South Africa's MeerKAT telescope discovers Inkathazo, a radio galaxy 32 times larger than the Milky Way, challenging plasma physics models.
South Africa's MeerKAT telescope has discovered a massive radio galaxy named Inkathazo, 32 times larger than the Milky Way. The galaxy's unusual plasma jets challenge existing models, suggesting we have much to learn about plasma physics in extreme galaxies. This discovery, among 11,000 others, hints at many more giant radio galaxies awaiting discovery in the southern sky.
