Sabah, Malaysia, is planning major power generation projects to address electricity supply issues by 2030, aiming for a 30% reserve margin.
Initiatives include purchasing electricity from Sarawak, building a 100MW power plant in 2026 and 2027, and a 100MW solar farm in 2025, with federal funding of RM102.9 million this year.
The state also pledged to exempt electricity surcharges for households and businesses from January to June 2025.
