Bangladesh's central bank has hired global audit firms to review banks that lost $17 billion to businesspeople linked to former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's regime. The Financial Intelligence Unit formed 11 teams to trace and reclaim assets bought with stolen funds. The review targets 10 major businesses and Hasina's relatives, and the Anti-Corruption Commission has filed cases against several individuals.
