Australia has introduced 20 new biosecurity detector dogs to enhance border security against pests and diseases. Trained Labradors like Clyde and Yuzu graduated from a program in Brisbane. The federal government committed $11.7 million for these dogs and additional handlers to intercept biosecurity threats, including those that could impact food security. In 2024, detector dog teams intercepted over 42,000 high-risk items.
