Starting January 29, 6th Ave. Southwest in downtown Rochester will close for underground utility work related to Mayo Clinic's $5 billion expansion project. The closure, from West Center St. to 1st St. Southwest, is expected until Fall 2026. The project, aiming to add clinical and support buildings, is set to finish by 2030. Motorists are advised to follow detours along Civic Center Dr., Broadway Ave., and 2nd St. Southwest.
