Egypt to sign deal with French, Italian firms to transport Cyprus' natural gas for export.

Egypt and a consortium of French and Italian energy companies, Total and Eni, are set to sign an agreement next month to transport natural gas from Cyprus' Cronos deposit to Egypt for liquefaction and export. The deal, considered significant, allows the consortium to finalize technical details for extracting and conveying the gas. The agreement will be signed at Egypt's energy summit in February. Cyprus and Egypt will also discuss using gas from the Aphrodite deposit, aiming to shift Cyprus' energy generation from crude oil to natural gas.
