Malaysian sandwich firm and director charged for alleged misuse of halal logos, facing hefty fines or jail.

A Malaysian sandwich company, Shake and Bake Cafe Sdn Bhd, and its director, Ewe Sarn Yeun, were charged in court for allegedly misusing halal logos and trademarks on their sandwiches. They face up to RM100,000 in fines or three years in jail for each offense, with higher penalties for repeat offenses. The charges stem from the supply of sandwiches labeled as halal, which may not meet halal standards. Both pleaded not guilty and were granted bail.
