The Ghanaian government donated GH¢1 million to support victims of a fire that destroyed over 7,000 shops at the Kantamanto Market in Accra on January 2, 2025, affecting nearly 30,000 traders.
President John Dramani Mahama pledged support, and the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, delivered the funds.
The government plans to rebuild the market into a modern, secure facility.
The traders are also seeking a $100 million loan from Access Bank for reconstruction while requesting government help to resolve land disputes.
