Former interpreter accused of impersonating MLB star Shohei Ohtani to steal $200,000; sentencing on February 6.

Former interpreter Ippei Mizuhara, who pleaded guilty to stealing nearly $17 million from MLB star Shohei Ohtani, is accused of impersonating Ohtani in a phone call with a bank to transfer $200,000. Prosecutors have obtained a four-minute audio recording of the call and seek a five-year sentence and restitution of the stolen funds to Ohtani, plus over $1 million to the IRS. Mizuhara is set to be sentenced on February 6.
