Netflix announced a price increase for its subscription plans in the US, Canada, Argentina, and Portugal. The standard ad-free plan will now cost $17.99, up from $15.49, while the ad-supported tier will increase to $7.99 from $6.99. The premium plan will rise to $24.99 from $22.99. The company cited the need for investment in programming. Netflix added nearly 19 million subscribers in the last quarter, bringing its total to over 300 million. The price hike follows robust financial performance, with revenue up 16% year-over-year to $10.25 billion.
