Malaysia plans to reclaim its top spot in rubber production by replanting trees and adopting automation.

Malaysia aims to regain its title as the world's top rubber producer within a decade, according to Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. The plan involves replanting 400,000 hectares of rubber trees with high-quality saplings and implementing automated tapping methods. The country, currently supplying 50% of global rubber, also plans to boost rubber wood usage in furniture to increase market value and support smallholders.
