Ghana's NPP attributes its electoral loss to spiritual factors, as NDC's Mahama wins presidency.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Ghana blamed its heavy defeat in the December 2024 general elections on spiritual factors. General Secretary Justin Frimpong Koduah noted low voter turnout and suggested that some pastors who should have supported the party did not, due to anger. John Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) won the presidency with 56.55% of the vote, while the NDC also won a majority in parliament with 183 seats compared to the NPP's 88.
