Australian clothing retailer Rivers, founded in 1863, will close all 136 stores by April 2025.
Australian retail brand Rivers, founded in 1863, will close all 136 of its stores by April after failing to find a buyer. The parent company, Mosaic Brands Group, entered voluntary administration in October 2024, leading to the loss of around 650 jobs. Rivers was originally a shoe wholesaler known as The Paddle Brothers before adopting its current name in 1979. The decision to close the stores was described as "difficult" by KPMG restructuring partner David Hardy.
