South Korea to replace airport concrete barriers after deadly Jeju Air crash.

South Korea plans to overhaul concrete barriers at some airports following the December 29 Jeju Air crash, which killed 179 people. The Boeing 737-800 crashed at Muan airport after hitting a concrete barrier. The Ministry of Land will remove similar structures at other airports and install lightweight steel replacements. The former head of Korea Airports Corp., Son Chang-wan, was found dead at his home; he led the airport's modernization project.
