Neil Speakman faces trial for gross negligence manslaughter after his son was killed by a farm vehicle he was operating.

Neil Speakman, 39, is on trial for gross negligence manslaughter after his three-year-old son, Albie, was run over and killed by a defective farm vehicle at their Bury, Greater Manchester farm in July 2022. Speakman, operating a telehandler without proper training, had no working wing mirrors and no audible warning system. Albie was left unsupervised in the yard. Speakman has pleaded guilty to a health and safety breach but denies manslaughter. The trial continues to assess the level of his negligence.
