Ireland delays VAT cut on bikes, eyes direct grants to ensure consumer benefits.

The Irish government has postponed plans to cut the VAT on bike purchases from 23% to 13.5% due to concerns that retailers might not pass on the savings to consumers. Instead, officials are considering a direct grant scheme to better tailor support based on income, geography, and other factors. The current Cycle to Work scheme already provides support at a cost of €5.5 million annually.
